Both the essence and lotion are for oily skin.
From the website, the essence :
Made from highly enriched extract of herbal medicine, Natural Base Control Essence is an intensive natural hydrator, highly nutritive with potent antimicrobial properties. The composite harmony gives restoration of damaged skin cell for radiant and resilient skin.
100% Natural Essence!
And the lotion :
Natural Base Control Lotion hydrates, protects, smoothens and conditions your skin. Made from herb medicine extract, it serves as a natural hydrator with abundant nutrient to give you soft and radiant skin. Minimized vegetable oil is blended to provide a good balance of oil and moist.
Non allergenic. Soft and moist.
Both comes in a bottle pump, the essence – 50ml, the lotion 100 ml. Sorry to say but the packaging isn’t exactly attractive at all. This product really deserves to have a good packaging because of it’s good quality. Pity…
Like most essence, it is clear-gel in texture. It spreads out very easily and is absorbed easily into the skin without leaving a sticky uncomfortable that some essence gives. Gives instant hydration to the skin and leaves it soft and supple.
The lotion looks thick in texture but it is actually runny and very easy to apply.
We actually really like the lotion ! It glides easily on the skin and is instantly absorbed into the skin. However it does have a tiny bit of a greasy feeling, probably due to the Jojoba and Olive seed oil used but no worries, it doesn’t leave the skin oily and greasy!
Sticky-ness of the Essence + Lotion :
After a few shakes :
The ingredient list here is Ace! They are paraben-free, artificial fragrance-free, and loaded with lots of organic natural goodies. Unlike creams which have silicones, alcohols right on top of the list – Ecobeau has these products at the bottom of the list.

Ingredients : Houttuynia cordata Extract, Gingko biloba leaf extract, Sesame seed extract, Padina pavonica thallus extract, Artemisia vulgaris extract, Rosemary leaf extract, Aloe leaf extract, Glycerin, Isopropyl mirystate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract, Pulsatilla Koreana Extract, Usnea Barbata(Lichen) Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Cyclomethicone, Polysorbate 60, Cetyl Alcohol, Glyceryl stearate, Stearic Acid, Jojoba Seed Oil, Scualane Oatmeal, Allantoin, Sorbitan Sesquiolate, Dimethicone, Rice Bran, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Olive Oil, Collagen, Carbomer, Natural Fragrance, Phantenol, Elastine, Ubiquinone, Sodium Bicarbonate, Disodium EDTA, Adenosin
I have gone through most of these ingredients in my other reviews, so i’ll pick those that i have not.
1. Houttuynia cordata Extract – a flowering plant native to Asian countries and known as the ‘fishy-smell herb’. To remove toxic heat, to promote the drainange of pus, and to relieve dysuria. Houttuynia cordata is also used in used in folk medicine for diuresis and detoxification and herbal medicine for its antiviral, antibacterial and antileukemic activities.
2. Jojoba Seed Oil – Jojoba oil has some amazing properties and is suitable for all skin types and penetrates the skin readily. Jojoba oil is used as a replacement for whale oil and its derivatives, such as cetyl alcohol. The ban on importing whale oil to the US in 1971 led to the discovery that jojoba oil is “in many regards superior to sperm oil for applications in the cosmetics and other industries. Jojoba oil and olive oil is used here as emollients – and we found this on a website :
A recent study at Uppsala University in Sweden reveals that most creams and lotions not only do not hydrate the skin, but actually dry it out further over time! Read more about this study at:http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/10/081022101500.htm
The main reason why this is true is because the incorrect emollients are used, and synthetic emulsifiers make the situation even worse. The emulsifier system is naturally derived from Jojoba and Olive, and it not only does not disrupt skin function, but works with it to soften, soothe and hydrate the skin on a continuous basis. However, this skin sebum analog will not clog pores, will not cause acne, and is non-comedogenic.
3. Agaricus bisporus extract – known variously as the common mushroom, button mushroom, white mushroom.
Agaricus bisporus contains a high level of beta glucans(Polysaccharides), compounds known for stimulating the immune system. The common mushroom contains high amounts of Vitamin D(especially when UV-irradiated) and B vitamins. It also contains sodium, potassium, and phosphorus. Agaricus bisporus also contains conjugated linoleic acid and antioxidants.
As this lotion and essence is for oily skin, therefore it will only be hydrating enough for those with oily skin. Therefore those with dry skin shouldn’t be using this. Those with oily skin who has to endure the harsh cold winter, you might need another cream on top of this, or apply more lotion than usual.
The essence-lotion duo did show very good results on the Moisture Meter.
After lotion + essence applied :
– That was quite a jump on the moisture level – from 16% to 50+%!
Yes! We like this duo from Ecobeau. Not only it is free from those harmful substance, and has a low percentage of silicones, it does control sebum quite effectively ! After application, sebum was kept under control for a few hours.
Furthermore, the duo isn’t very expensive! It is definitely worth the price. And you don’t have to worry what you’re slapping on your face.
For those with oily skin, we’d recommend these two products, and if you had to choose only one of this two , we’d recommend the lotion as it comes in 100ml and does a good job on sebum control !
