Aargh, this is so hard. I use to think that History Of Whoo had the best packaging for Oriental Medicine Skincare, but then came along Coongjin Coway’s Allvit. Allvit won the prestigious worldwide design award last year – the Red Dot Awards and there is a reason for that! All of Allvit products are sooooooo beautiful that you can just sit down there and look at it for ours wondering how can it be so beautiful. Not kidding! I always take out the cream jar and take photos of it trying to get the most beautiful photo to justify the beauty of their packaging.

Anyway both are beautifully packaged but the History Of Whoo has a more sturdy and thicker bottle – so you don’t have to worry about it cracking if it falls off your cosmetic shelf. The History Of Whoo Cleansing Oil are seperately packaged. I guess this is very convenient if you travel a lot! The pump is boxed in another box and you’d have to assemble it yourself while the Allvit Cleansing Oil is already assembled. They both have safety pins to it, so if you want to bring the oil while travelling, you have no worry about spilling them in your luggage bag.

Both comes in 200ml.

They both have gel-like texture but the Whoo cleansing oil has a very special texture. It is sort of gel-like texture but more like resin ( just like the jinyul foam cleanser of the same line ). But once spread on the skin and rubbed, the resin texture turns into oil and spreads easily.

The Allvit Cleansing Oil has a normal sort of oil + gel texture which is rather special too because most of the oils ive used are just oil texture. As you can see above, the Allvit Oil is lighter and runnier in texture.

The Jinyul Cleanser feels luxurious on the skin, you can definitely tell that it was made for those with drier skin and older age as it is very nourishing. It has a very strong Chinese medicinal scent which is a trademark scent for the Whoo Jinyul line. Once touched with water, the oil washes off easily and doesn’t leave any oily residue on your hands or face and your skin feels very nourished and hydrated.

The Allvit Oil feels really moist and nice on the skin. Let me tell you how much i am in love with the scent. It smells divine, probably one of the best cosmetic scents in the world. Love love love! I would repurchase this just for the scent. It has a very nice herbal yet floral scent which is so relaxing and refreshing. Aromatherapy ! Unlike the History Of Whoo Cleanser, the Allvit Oil is harder to wash off, and leaves the hands a little oily too. However, this makes this even more moist than the Whoo. The skin feels even more hydrated than the Whoo but different people will take it a different way. My housemate who used this felt like the oil stayed on the skin and did not wash off totally. For me, i felt that the oil left my skin very moist and hydrated – but this isn’t really a big thing because the foam cleanser will wash this off !

Do not forget to follow up with a foam cleanser after using a cleansing oil !

As you can see above, the History Of Whoo managed to wipe everything off, even the permanent market which many cleansers fail to do so. There is a slight mark but it is hardly noticeable.

As you can see from above, it managed to wipe everything off except the permanent marker which the History Of Whoo managed to wipe off! But of course, we’re not going to use a permanent marker on our face… so it doesn’t make a difference. I just wanted to show the cleansing power of both cleansing oils.

It is not surprising that the Oriental Medicine Skincare market in Korea has the biggest percentage of the market, and the highest amount of sales every year because they are really made with quality. Both cleansing oils are excellent – but are they worth it? After all they’re only cleansing oils and gets washed off right away. To maximum it’s uses – you can do a little massage with the oil and let it stay in your skin for a while like a mask.

Both oils are very hydrating and nourishing. They smell divine – the Whoo smells very therapeutic while the Allvit smells so relaxing and sweet. If you want to play it safe – get the Whoo as you may not like the nourishing after feel of the Allvit – but if you have very dry skin and would like your skin to feel a little richer and nourishing – try the Allvit Cleansing Oil.

Logically, if i were to choose between both – it would be the Whoo because it washes off easily, cleanses well, doesn’t leave an oily feeling on your hands or face… but because i cannot get enough of the Allvit scent, i would probably repurchase the Allvit Cleansing Oil again.

  1. I think that a comparison between the Allvit cleansing foamssoaps and the Whoo cleansing foams would be good too. Cleansing oils are meant more for cleansing of makeup and BB cream residues.

  2. yup i put on bb creams everyday so i gottta use oils. the foam review is comingggg in a few weeks time!

  3. I actually like herbal soaps, and know that Allvit has a herbal soap retailing at around 30,000won on Gmarket. It’ s pretty expensive for herbal soap lol…even about as much or more than Sulwhasoo’s….

  4. Allvit isn’t cheap at all! haha i think their prices are at par with Whoo, or slightly higher even.

  6. I got a Hannule cleansing bar as part of the set of 3 for the Ga Eum line when I purchased it in 2010. I believe that when it was retailing, it was around 16,000won at the most. 30,000won for a cleansing bar is about as expensive as Sulwhasoo’s cleansing bar, which is sold at 2 bars of 100g for around 40,000 won or more in retail outlets inside department stores. I would think these cleansing bars last a long long time and they might in fact be way more economical than the usual cleansing foams.
