Paraffin is a chemical wax-like substance used in various spheres of human activity. Paraffin is obtained in the distillation of oil, as one of 3000 by-products. It is a mixture of several hydrocarbons of solid state.

According to the color scheme, paraffin can occur from a pure white to a yellowish hue. Color is an indicator of the degree of purification of the substance. The melting point of paraffins varies from 45-60 ° C. The most pure paraffins are used for impregnating food paper, for the production of cosmetics, pharmaceuticals. They cover the containers, which are subsequently used in the food industry as containers. Paraffins of lesser purification are used for making candles, matches, household goods, in the chemical and petrochemical industries. Widely paraffin is used in medicine. It is an additive in various ointments, suspensions, it is used in paraffin treatment.

As a cosmetic procedure, paraffin was used in the 19 century. Nowadays paraffin masks can be performed on their own. For this purpose, it is better to choose paraffin in pharmacies. Masks made of paraffin are suitable for all skin types. It is important to melt the paraffin properly, preferably in a water bath. The place on the body, where the mask will be applied from the paraffin, is by no means moistened.

Melted oil is placed on the skin melted, warm. Layers are applied gradually, they warm the skin. Cooling down, the paraffin slightly shrinks in volume. This mask allows not only to warm the skin, but also to strengthen it, tighten it. Paraffin treatments do not scorch the skin, but only a shallow heat. Vessels with such masks do not expand, which distinguishes this effect of paraffin from other thermal procedures.

In addition to these effects, paraffin treatments help restore the water balance of the skin. They prevent the appearance of stretch marks and the second chin. The skin after the mask is softened, various seals dissolve, skin trophics improve.

Carrying out paraffin procedures on your own, observe certain rules. Never apply liquid paraffin to the skin in the eyes, mouth and nostrils. Layers should lie flat, for this use a brush. For each frozen layer, lay a gauze layer. The thickness of the mask can be brought to 8 mm. Brush with paraffin, strictly on the facial massage lines, start with the chin, complete the application of the mask on the front side of the face.

After 20 minutes, remove the mask, do it carefully with a cosmetic spatula. After the mask, treat the skin with a lotion or a suitable cream.
