How the "protein diet" harms the health of women
The protein diet, invented by Dr. R. Atkins about thirty years ago, and to this day is a very popular method of losing weight. She enjoys great success among athletes and bodybuilders, as well as women seeking to quickly get rid of excess weight.

Today, there are many variations of the protein diet, but all of them are based on minimizing the number of carbohydrates consumed, which are replaced by proteins. Such a diet provides for unlimited consumption of foods high in protein (low-fat meat and poultry, fish, eggs). A few days after the start of the diet instead of carbohydrates in the body begin to burn proteins, and as a result, a person begins to lose weight, and quickly enough.

Однако данный метод losing weight not as harmless as it seems. The first thing that the adherents of the protein diet face, the disruption of the gastrointestinal tract. Since the diet completely lacks fiber, the intestine is not able to cope with its work. This can cause the strongest dysbiosis and constipation.

During the protein diet in the body, surpluses of protein decay products are formed – urates, oxalates, phosphates, etc. They create an additional burden on the kidneys, liver and other important organs. The daily protein norm for optimal intake of carbohydrates is 1 grams per kilogram of human body weight. If the intake of proteins exceeds this figure, so-called protein intoxication begins, leading to serious disturbances in the activity of internal organs and systems.

The protein diet is the cause of vitamin deficiency and a sharp increase in the level of cholesterol in the blood. In addition, this method of losing weight, violates the acid-base balance. Over time, the body begins total oxidation, leading to cell death. Skin, nails and hair are rapidly losing their moisture and health. A high level of protein with such nutrition can promote the washing away of calcium from the bones, and this creates a threat of the development of osteoporosis.

According to recent studies, this diet significantly increases the risk of cancer. It turned out that after consuming one protein food, the concentration of metabolic products significantly increases in the intestine, provoking the development of malignant tumors.

Thus, protein foods must necessarily complement products containing carbohydrates and fats. With any diet should strictly calculate the amount of protein, fat and carbohydrates consumed, observing the basic rules of a balanced diet.
