Hope In A Blog would like to wish everyone a very Happy Chinese New Year.
The year has been a great one, I started my MSc in Luxury Management and Marketing in September and since then I haven’t been updating much, but I still try to make an effort to write articles once in a while to share my passion and love for cosmetics. Thank you for taking your time to read my articles and hope that you have enjoyed them as much as I have written them.
Here I have prepared a little video for everyone, as a reminder if you are ever too busy at work, too lazy to fly home, etc … I subbed this video as it really touched me.
My mother’s dream was to be able to see snow. Until today, she hasn’t realized her dreams. But I have realized hers. She worked hard to support my siblings and me so that we were able to study overseas. And here I am, looking at the snow… and there she is, still dreaming of it. That is a mother’s love. So go home if you can for the Chinese New Year and for the Reunion Dinner on the 9th.
I’ve always enjoyed the Chinese New Year advertisements done by the Malaysian giant companies. I believe as a business, besides earning money, you have to have a social responsibility. Enjoy these Chinese New Year advertisements that I have compiled below. Throughout these ads, you will always see a typical scene – the Chinese family sitting together, sharing and enjoying a meal. I’m sure many of us have never thought of something so simple : Why do Asians share food during a meal instead of having one dish each?
Simply because our ancestors wanted to teach us from a young age how to share with each other. As a family, we shouldn’t care who takes more food, or who takes less. We learn how to give into one another. And through sharing, we learn how to care for each other. This is how a family has a strong foundation! Also, ever wondered why in our Chinese names – it’s the Family Name first, the Generation name second, and your own name the third in comparison to the Western world which have their own names first, and then family name last?
It’s simple – You always put family first, and yourself last. With a strong family, only will there be a strong country. Confucius placed great importance on the family. Family fife was seen as a training ground for life in society. It is at home in the family that the child learns to deal with problems that he or she will face later in the world. The family is responsible for educating the child to be a good member of society.
All these values were instilled in us since the Confucian days but I guess we have never once thought ‘Why?’, but took it for granted just because it has always been this way for thousands of years.
So take a look at these commercials, and when you return back home and when your mum or dad says ‘Come eat, son/daughter’ , you will never ever feel the same anymore
