Here we go face off with the Eastern VS Western Premium BB Creams. 3LAB’s BB Cream is the first western premium BB Cream at a whopping $95USD. In Asia, there are a few premium BB Creams that are above the $100 mark – the Sunny Side VIP BB Cream ( which L’arcobaleno tried to copy ), the AHC Intense Contour Balm Premium, Alexander Kimsco BB Cream, INTA BB Creams, etc.

Grrrr.. i still don’t understand why the most expensive Korean BB Creams are the ones with the ugliest packaging. Do not understand. Not to say that the Arcobaleno has an ugly packaging, but just a packaging not worth its $90USD price tag.
Although I’m on the fence with both the packaging here, because the other Korean BB Creams have definitely much better packaging and design – the 3Lab wins here. I wish the 3Lab BB was a little more refine so that it wouldn’t look so bulky and easier to bring around. The pump tube was also a plus as it is more hygenic compared to the Arcobaleno. Had no problems with the pump here – it’s easy to control the amount of BB Cream that comes out ! Another plus point for the 3Lab BB Cream is that it comes with a roller , which is also the first western BB Cream that has introduced this but in Asia, BB Rollers have been around for a long time for example the Holika Holika Dr Roller BB Cream.
Shade / Colour & Texture
I took photos of the BB Cream under different light situation : natural light, yellow light, with flash, etc :

The two BB Creams have different shade. The Arcobaleno has the typical Korean BB cream shade : pinkish and greyish undertone, while the 3Lab has a brighter orange-y shade. However they both blend flawlessly with your skin colour and the roller from the 3Lab BB Cream definitely does help in giving you a flawless finish. With that said, i do feel that the roller absorbs a little too much of BB Cream, so i prefer using the BeautyBlender , a brush, or just my hands.
Now to the texture of it – they both have a lighter texure – it’s somewhere in between light and concentrated. They’re not as concentrated as the original BB Creams, but not as fluid as foundations or the other newer generations of BB Cream. Both of them are have a very balmy texture therefore you’d definitely need to spend more time blending the BB Creams. I’d say that the Arcobaleno has a texture that is easier to blend because it’s texture is balmier/oilier and more waxy, so it’s easier to work with. The Arcobaleno gives a very dewy finish which not all might appreciate probably due to it’s higher oil content. Though both of them are not drying, the Arcobaleno feels richer and more hydrating than the 3Lab – but no complains for both the BB Creams here. Those with oily skin will definitely appreciate the 3Lab more.
To see the coverage of both BB Creams ( red hearts for skin redness, black for sun spots or moles )
L’arcobaleno has a better coverage for sure, but the 3Lab coverage isn’t that bad at all too! See for yourself at the photos above. The L’arcobaleno covers pores and acne scars better.
Adherence / Water Test
Applied BB Cream to the back of my hand, left it under running water ( to emulate sweat ) , waited for a while, then wiped a tissue across just like how we would wipe our sweat.
Tested both Bb Creams under running water. Before :
I cellophane taped the middle part of the leather for 3 hours and ripped it apart to test it’s adherence on artificial leather to emulate human skin.
As you can see, the L’arcobaleno adheres poorly to the skin. The 3Lab does a really good job in adhering to the skin. Big downfall here for L’arcobaleno.
